I pretty much have a new favorite 'band'. I'm sure you've heard of them. Their from Indiana, and they all went to IU. yes. I am talking about the amazing Straight No Chaser. I've been listening to the Indianapolis christmas radio station (105.7), and I heard these guys sing for the first time. they have at least one song play, oh, about every 10 to 15 minutes on the radio. Apparently I saw them play basketball against the IU basketball team at Midnight Madness, but had no idea my future favorite singers were standing before my eyes right then. Anyways, give them a good listen, and I'm sure you will fall in love with there talent in no time.

My technology learning deficiency prevents me from knowing how to upload videos from youtube, so just copy and paste the link into your browser to see/hear them! and enjoy!

Three Grandkids, Two Games of Settlers and a Kitty dressed up like an Elf!

Thanksgiving break kept me pretty busy. Michael and I had a lovely thanksgiving dinner at his family's house, and on Friday, after 7 hours of shopping from 4:30-11:30, we headed on down to Southern Indiana to spend the weekend with my Grandma and Nicole. After eating another delicious Thanksgiving Dinner (with out the turkey!), we did some Christmas tree decorating!!

Michael was thrilled to be decorating the Christmas tree. no, really. he was.

...and so was Nicole!

I think we did a good job. Although we couldn't find the angel that went on top.

...so we had to improvise. this is an angle my Dad made when he was in elementary school. you can't see it very well, but it's basically a piece of paper rolled up for the body, with two flaps of paper for the wings, and a sponge ball for the head. I thought it was cute!

We played a couple games of Settlers of Catan, made chocolate covered cake balls, listened to Christmas music, and watched Flight of the Concords. After Nicole left on Saturday, Grandma went to her first movie in 10 years with us to see Old Dogs. I think she enjoyed it. at least she said she did. The last movie she saw 10 years ago was My Favorite Martian. I was with her to see that one too, but I don't think she liked it very much... Aliens aren't really her thing.

We came home on Sunday, and dressed Sunday up in her new elf outfit!

She doesn't look happy here, but you should have seen her earlier. she was ecstatic.

I finally got to bring my rocking horse back home.

It has been stored at Grandma's house for the past, oh, 4 or 5 years. I had this horse since I was around 1 or 2. My grandparents bought it at a flea market in Indiana, took it apart and flew it down to Ecuador, and put it back together when it got there. Ecuador is where it spent most of it's years. Then six years ago, when our family moved up to Indiana again, we brought it with us. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited to have it at my own little house, and I can't wait to see my own children ride it. Some things are just too hard to let go of.

Yesterday was the first day of Advent, and Christmas is in 4 weeks!!

My 10 day Vacation

Today was the first day of Thanksgiving break. I plan to sleep, eat, and play all break. By play, I mean do things that are fun instead of homework. My original plan was to get all my homework done today and tomorrow (all 15 Drug cards, two take-home tests, a 4 pg assignment, and a 20 min. presentation to prepare) and relax the rest of the week. But that didn't work out too well.

First words that popped into my head when I woke up this morning were, "Drug Cards. Homework. Got... to do... homework...." I'm such a great, overachieving student.

You can see how far I got on those bugars.

Other, more fun things were buzzing around in my head. Things I can only dream of doing during the school week.
Things like...

...dressing up like a cowgirl. I had my own personal photographer for this hot shot.

Before I knew it, it was time to meet the inspector/estimator for our possible future home. Oops! homework will just have to wait! Shucks... I was really looking forward to it.

By the time we got home, it was time fore michael to go to work. I decided to accompany him in return for a hot cup of a tall, double shot, Caramel Brule Latte. (my new favorite holiday drink of the year. Just throwing it out there. y'know, in case somebody feels like doing some measure of community service for the day.) notice my drug book in the background there. hasn't even been cracked.

In waiting for the caffeine to kick in, I decided to treat myself to playing a bit of Animal Crossing. Ever heard of it? This would be my new nerdy wii game that exceeds Pet Society by far! I got it two weeks ago. I'm addicted. Look at my pathetic pine tree on the bottom right side of the screen. I planted it two days ago and it's already dying.

I went fishing. He's looking at my hook! don't you just love my pink hair? It cost 3,000 bells for that style.

Poetry and Fish names. Such an educational game!

After burning my eyes out for 76 hours on the game, I thought a little christmas tree decorating would be nice. (That's some sexy thermal underwear, sara.)

My favorite things this Christmas are Reindeer. Sorry, Christmas angel, but you're only #2 on the tree this year.

I had this book picked out to read for Thanksgiving break, oh, about 5 weeks ago. I finally get to read it! (after i finish my homework...) I also had popcorn for dinner tonight. Delish. Except I had some kernals get stuck in my throat and my whole Animal Crossing life flashed before my eyes. All 76 hours of it. (Should have let that Crucian Carp go!)

Had a nice nap on the couch. not really. I was just thinking of some creative way to bring Sunday into this blog. This was the best I came up with. isn't she cute?

not me.

the cat.

Still haven't touched those drug card.
or the take home tests.
or the project or assignment.

Better luck next time!

New Home! (MAYBE...)

Michael and I might be moving yet again!! My sister and brother-in-law are looking at a house here in Martinsville to buy, and they have asked us to be renters. Our apt lease is up in December, so it's perfect timing! They have put an offer on the house, which has been accepted, and they are now just waiting for an inspector to go out there and see how bad the water damage is from the flood (yes... it was in one of the neighborhoods that got flooded...). The inside of the house looks fine, we are just leery about underneath the house.
Michael and I have decided that there are more pros than cons to moving into a house vs. an apt. (obviously). one of them is that we will have a nice, large, fenced-in yard! The only dirt we currently own is potted in containers on our back porch (a failed gardening project....) If we move, we will have enough space to have a decent sized garden, a clothes line (already set up), and a shed (already built). We are also hoping to get a dog sometime in the next year, so it will be nice to have a yard for it to run around in. Plus, Sunday is more of an outdoor/indoor cat (vs. just indoor), so she might be able to finally run around outdoors again (and loose some of that house-cat weight!)
The neighborhood seems pretty family friendly. we counted 12 little kids getting off the school bus on that street. A seemingly sweet old lady lives across the street (just judging by looks), and I saw about 3 different people jogging in that neighborhood. I do not feel comfortable running/jogging around where we live now, because literally 4 times out of 5, creeps drive by shouting weird things out the window, or they slow down right behind me and then speed way up and drive off, or they whistle, and i've even passed a car, parked in the middle of nowhere, where and old drunk opened his car door and asked me for an aspirin. Needless to say, I haven't run in THIS area in, um, about 3 months. and running around South elementary gets kind of old. SO moral of the story, i'm excited to move to a family friendly neighborhood where i can run/jog/walk without having to worry about getting, y'know, raped. Or something.
ANYways, this was supposed to be a 3 sentence blog with a cute little picture attached, but turned out to be uber long...
I really hope we get this house.
The end.
